Some Local Press

We were honored to play at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona, Queens, on July 20th. A journalist from the The Knight News, the Queens College student newspaper, stopped by and interviewed us (the Museum is administered by Queens College). Here's a link to the article.
We'd like to say thanks to Cesar for writing such nice article, and we look forward to playing at the Museum again sometime soon!

New Demo Recordings!

UPDATE! We took the best of these demos, and recorded some additional tunes to create our first CD!

We spent two or three hours on a Sunday evening a few weeks ago to record some new demo tunes, and we're pretty pleased with the results. We were very grateful to have access to a great sounding room at Greenpoint Reformed Church, and we also had a fantastic line-up of musicians. The players were:

Janelle Reichman - clarinet
Jason Benjamin - cornet
Chris Cortier - trombone
Joe Keady - tuba
Chris Johnson - banjo & piano
Curt Garey - drums

Example recordings can be found on our website on the "Audio" page:

For those of you who like to geek out about these things, the recording process was pretty simple. We set up a Zoom H4 handheld recorder in the front of the church, near the piano. Then we just put the quieter instruments closer to the recorder, and the louder instruments further away. No instruments were directly mic'ed, we used the internal stereo mics on the recorder and just found a good spot in the room. Voila! A little bit of EQ and compression and there you have it.
